The men’s competition on Sunday was the October Stableford. There were 57 entrants and conditions were good producing some good scores particularly in the lower divisions. However, only one man managed to achieve the magic 40 points and that was Howard Bonfield in Div.2. Terry Kearley won Div.3 after count-back with 38 points and Mike Savage Div.1 scoring 36 points.

The Midweek Medal was won by Peter Marshall 80-8=72. Runner-up was David Corp 92-16=76.
The veteran’s Thursday event was the annual Ancient v Modern Match Play and 32 teams took part. The age division is supposed to be 70 but the ‘Oldies’ usually have to lend some players to the ‘Youngsters’ and help them win as was the case this time the scores being 9 ½ – 6 ½ to the Moderns.

Saturday and Tuesday saw ladies taking part in the qualifying round for Carole Browns’s Winter Pairs competition. Saturday was a beautiful autumn day with conditions almost perfect for this time of year,this showed with the highest Stableford points being recorded on the Saturday. Eight pairs go through to the knockout stages to be completed by the end of the winter. The winning pairs were, Avril Brown &Carole Brown (35), Madeline Skelly & Nicky Stone (31) Jane White & Rosanne Bonfield (31) Sally Woolmington & Liz Walker (28) Ruth Donovan & Judy Walters (28) Liz Thompson & Sue Winkle (26) Marion Hurley & Pat Baldwin (26) and the last pair to qualify were Di Stothard & Sandra March (22).
